Al Davis said it best - “Just win, Baby!”. Well, the Super Bowl is all about the winner. Below you can see which teams managed to climb the mountain and reached the pinnacle of the NFL (as well as how many times those teams have fallen short).

With six Vince Lombardi trophies each, the Patriots and the Steelers stand on top of the pile. The Patriots edge our graph here as they have made it to the big game a record 11 times! It’s important to remember that each one of those Super Bowl victories represents a ring on the finger of the GOAT, Tom Brady.

The Super Bowl emerged as a way to settle the score between the NFL and their upstart rival, the AFL. Well, since then the leagues are one and the two leagues have become the AFC and NFC conferences. However, the rivalry is as competitive as ever. The most recent Championship game levelled the tally as teams from each conference have won the Super Bowl 27 times a piece.

If you happen to find yourself playing in the Super Bowl, check your jersey. If current form holds, you are nearly twice as likely to be holding the Lombardi Trophy the end of the evening if your team is playing in white. 34 of the 54 games (that’s 63%) have been won by the team playing in a white jersey.

Ten states that have hosted the Super Bowl and due to the late January / early February game days, most of them tend to be of the warmer, Southern variety. Indeed, it wasn’t until Super Bowl XVI between the 49ers and the Bengals, that the big game ventured as far North as Michigan. Since then Minnesota, Indiana and New Jersey have all played host, but as you can see, the vast majority of games have still been played in the sun. Florida leads the field with 16 collective Super Bowls so far, with California and Louisiana not far behind.

If you find yourself on the winning team in the Super Bowl, you have a small chance of winning yourself an MVP trip to Disneyland, but you almost certainly will have earned yourself a Super Bowl Championship ring. As you can imagine, these are extremely hard to come by. There is one man who stands alone when it comes to the accumulation of Championship jewellery as a player. Tom Brady, Quarterback of the New England Patriots has won a massive 6 Championship rings!
